1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next seven sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favourite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
6. Tag five other people to do the same.
The fifth sentence:
A good interactive product doesn't get in the user's way.
The next seven sentences:
It doesn't use elaborated guidance schemes and symbols, and it doesn't try to explain itself or to direct the users activities, unless the user wants it to. One way to remove obstacles is to let people interact with the content as directly as possible. Let them click the things they want to find out about, and give the simple express routes to the information they're looking for.
The book is Interactivity by design by Ray Kristof & Amy Satran. It's one of the books I'm using for my thesis. Kind of boring ne? Sorry, that was the nearest book I had. And all the others books I have right now are for my thesis too... Don't make me think, Web Site Usability a Designers Guide, Information Architecture for the World Wide Web and Graphic Design and Communication. I sound like a GEEK! XD
