Dancing with Bono

I got to be on stage with Bono, from U2.
I'm a huge U2 fan! I've been a fan of U2 for about 13 years now! In all those years my dream was to go to a U2 concert. Finally on November 13 of 2005 I got to go to a U2 concert in Miami in the Vertigo Tour.
I spend most of 2004 and 2005 saving money to go to the US for the concert. I even bought the ticket 10 months in advance in a pre-sale. I'm crazy about U2. I went with a friend of mine from the University! She's crazy about Bono... like me!

This is my friend Laura and me waiting in line! We're both wearing green t-shirts of course! I'm the one in the right, my t-shirts says "I love Irish Boys"
So the day finally came... We were in the American Airlines Arena in Miami for a U2 concert! The concert doors were going to open at 6:00 pm... and we were doing the line at 6:00 am! I wanted to be the first one to go in! But there were people already doing the line. I was number 12. The fans are very organize.. as soon as you get there the put a number in your hand and you write your name in a list. So 12 hours to go... it was so much fun. There were a lot of people from Miami, but also from Spain and a lot of latinos! People have radios and we would sing U2 songs all day!
In U2 concerts the stage is different. Is like this:

There is a big circle and Bono and the boys would walk around the people inside the circle. But the tricky thing is that not just anyone can go inside the circle! When you give your concert ticket you know if you can go inside the circle or not! Just a lucky few... I soooo wanted to get inside the circle. But when it was my turn to see if I would go inside or not... my ticket didn't work. I had to wait for about 5 minutes to see why my ticket wasn't working... I was going to cry.. but then they told me it was Ok.. that i could enter the arena. So.. neither of us got inside the circle.. but thankfully my friend got a great spot. We were where the green circle is in the picture, outside the circle... but it was a great spot.
So finally I was there... so, dream can come true! The lights were on.. and then OFF... and you listen to the intro of a song by Arcade Fire called "Wake Up" and then you listen to The Edge guitar.... they are on the main stage... BUT where the hell is Bono!???? AND HE POPS RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!

I completely lost it... I WAS IN A U2 CONCERT! And BONO was in front of me!!!! Once he was up on the stage.. he put his hands up and conffetti came right out and then "City Of Blinding Lights" started.. Amazing. I'm not going to bored you with how I remember every song. U2 songs are increible... and to listen to them live is the best. Specially "Where the streets have no name"... Bono wants to save Africa.. and with these song.. you can see flags from all over the world on the screens and then an image of the African continent... "Running to stand still" was amazing too! On the screen you see this:
"On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration"
And Bono is singing in the background "Halleluja" And you can se the first article on the screen... and then you can heard a girls voice and then she's on the screen saying "Everyone has the right to life , liberty and security of person." "No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms."..and she says all the articles... by this point tears started to fall.... It's just to much...
By this point I was please. Visually is the best... the LED screens, the lights, the music.. If you watch the U2 Vertigo Tour live from Chicago.. you know what i mean.
So it was time for one of the best song of U2. As I'm writing this my hands are shaking, and my heart is going fast. As I said before I was wearing a t-shirt that says "I love Irish boys". Bono notice it.. and he reach his hand to the crowd, where I was!!!! The first thing I did was point to my t-shirt.. I wanted him to see it! And he did... he was trying to reach my hand. (I forgot to mention that everytime Bono or any of the guys pass infront of me I had a HUGE smile on my face... actually I had a HUGE smile on my face throughout all the concert). Anyway.. he was trying to reach my hand. And then Bono said it " I WANT THE IRISH GIRL".. He said it to the security guy... I WAS THE IRISH GIRL and the security guy said to me: Ok, relax your going up. ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I threw myself ati Bono... OH MY GOD... this is BONO! I stated to mumble thank you, thank you, gracias, gracias.. and he stared to sing "With or without you"... words can't express how I felt.

Here's the video... U2: With or Without You in Miami 11-13-05
I almost faint.. He even kiss my hand... And he hold me so tight. Waiting 10 years to go to a U2 concert.... and on my first U2 concert I got to be on stage with Bono. Me. A girl from Costa Rica. I often get asked what i said to Bono that day. I told him that my name was Silvia, and that I was from Costa Rica. And i just said, thank you, thank you, gracias, gracias... so this is me dancing with Bono... altough we didn't "dance" i just threw myself at him like a money.. hahaha!
So, people.... dreams do come true!
When I was back in Costa Rica, the picture got to one of the newspapers! A tica (costarican) with Bono! Hahaha! Suertuda Al Día, Farandula
I even send the picture to an Irish magazine "Hot Press" (THE music magazine in Ireland) and they were going to make an article about U2 and wanted pictures from the fans and I send mine, and they choose my picture!!! U2 fans pictures I bought the magazine, and there was my picture, it's a little picture, but still I'm in an article about U2.
And 3 years later, the picture is still making buzz. There is a special section in the newspaper that comes out every Sunday, where people send pictures about themselft, or old pictures! I sent mine 3 years ago but they didn't put my picture. But yesterday they publish a special issue... an guess who was on the cover? They were like 10 pictures and MINE WAS THERE IN THE COVER!
I'm just very thankfull. Being a U2 fan is the best! I've have met so many great people because of U2. Thank you Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam. You've made me very happy! I will always follow you!
So.. this is the longest post I have ever writing. If you just read all of this. Thanks! ^_^
I hope to make a post about an Arashi concert one day!
